Cedar deck with cover

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The client had contacted us to plan a custom cedar deck and cover to replace their very worn existing deck on the back side of their home. This was a returning client that we had previously done a bathroom remodel for as well as built some custom cabinetry for. We love returning clients as it really speaks to the detail in our work.

The first hurdle we had to overcome in the planning of this project was to get the permission of the homeowners HOA. For this to be possible we brought in a draftsman that we use regularly in order to draw up the new deck plan so the HOA could see what it would like aesthetically. After approval from the HOA we got to work. Cedar decks are very labor intensive as they require staining of all cedar boards to the clients specifications. Once the cedar deck was complete the homeowner was not exactly satisfied with the color of the staining that they had originally chosen and wanted it to be darker. We sent our crew right back over and restrained the entire deck.

The customer was very happy with the color and we do admit it is beautiful. Above the cedar deck we built a custom covering that included electrical for lighting and exterior outlets. The deck also included an ADA compliant wheelchair ramp on one side to allow their mother to have access to the back yard. All in all another happy client with a custom cedar deck that they will be able to enjoy for many years to come.
